The Punjab government has launched driving simulators in schools across 28 districts, marking a significant step toward modernizing driver education and improving road safety. This initiative aims to ensure that new drivers receive practical training in a safe and controlled environment before moving to real-road practice.
Expansion of Driving Simulators Across Punjab
According to Punjab DIG Traffic, Muhammad Waqas Nazir, 20 new districts were equipped with driving simulators this month alone. This expansion has increased the total from 8 districts last month to 28 districts now. By the end of the month, officials expect all 38 districts of Punjab to have these training facilities.
Rollout Phases of the Project
The project was launched in phases to ensure smooth implementation:
-
First Phase: Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad
-
Second Phase: Gujranwala, Multan, Sahiwal, Okara, Gujrat, and others
-
Current Phase: Majority of Punjab districts, with full coverage expected soon
This gradual rollout is designed to provide uniform access to modern driving education across the province.
How the Simulator Training Works
The training program is structured into two main stages:
-
Simulator Practice: Learners begin in a digital environment, where they can practice driving without real-world risks.
-
On-Road Sessions: After simulator training, students proceed to practical on-road sessions with improved confidence and skills.
Authorities believe that this modern training model will help produce more skilled and responsible drivers, reducing road accidents and enhancing public safety across Punjab.
